Since its inception (2016), the LSESU Pakistan Development Society (PakDev) has been committed to fostering meaningful dialogue on Pakistan’s socio-economic, political, and human rights crisis. The society provides a platform for students to critically engage with a diverse range of perspectives on issues facing Pakistan and its global diaspora.
In this regard, PakDev has hosted numerous impactful events to encourage discourse and engagement over the years. Highlights include a session with the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, in 2017/18—an event that earned the distinction of 'Best Student-Led Conference of the Year' by the LSESU. More recently, the society welcomed the current Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Mansoor Ali Shah, in 2021/22, and the then President of Pakistan, Mr. Arif Alvi, in 2022/23.
At its core, PakDev seeks to advance Pakistan’s political and developmental agenda on an international stage. It aims to generate political capital and global awareness that benefits Pakistanis at home and abroad.
