The Competition Law Society is a student-led organization at LSE, dedicated to exploring the intricacies of competition law and fostering a deep understanding of its impact on markets, businesses, and everyday life. By way of an introduction, competition law (or antitrust law at it is known in the US) is an area of law that seeks to promote market competition by regulating the conduct of companies. What’s the point? For the benefit of consumers, like you and I, to be delivered higher quality goods and services at lower prices.
Competition law often makes headlines, and every year, there tends to be a series of significant cases across various industries. One of the society's goals is to provide the tools to understand and discuss the cases shaping the public agenda in markets, as is currently happening with Big Tech in both the EU and the US.
Located in the heart of London, the society leverages the city's status as a global hub for law, business, and policy-making to provide a vibrant platform for learning and engagement with market players and law firms in the city.
As an academic society, the focus is on developing the skills and knowledge of its members who share a special interest in this field, while also introducing cutting-edge concepts and developments through empirical approaches using real cases and market research. The society connects with key players and fosters a law-in-context approach.
