The LSE Ambedkar Society, established in commemoration of the centenary since Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's award of DSc in 1923, is a dedicated initiative at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Rooted in the ideals of social justice, equality, and empowerment, our society endeavours to honour Dr. Ambedkar's legacy and enable an anti-caste dialogue. Forming this society here is a noteworthy initiative. Dr. Ambedkar, Architect of the Indian Constitution and Notable Alumni of LSE was a prominent Indian jurist, social reformer, economist and philosopher has focused on the ideas of social justice, equality, and empowerment of marginalised communities. Through campaigns, educational events, and academic engagement, we aim to raise awareness about Dr. Ambedkar's ideas, address caste discrimination, and foster discussions on gender, race, religion and social inequality. Our annual celebrations, including cultural programs, academic conferences and reading circles, pay homage to the intellectual legacy of Dr. Ambedkar as well as other anti-caste reformers such as Jyotibha Phule, Savitribai Phule, EVR Periyar and other emerging thinkers. Unity, advocacy, and support are fundamental to our mission. We strive to build a sense of community among students from diverse backgrounds who will find this to be a welcoming space to share experiences of discrimination, advocate for anti-caste policy changes that promote diversity, and provide mentorship programs for students from marginalized backgrounds, especially Dalits. In essence, the LSE Ambedkar Society is a vibrant community dedicated to advancing Dr. Ambedkar's vision for a more just and equitable society within and beyond the academic realm and uphold the caste debate globally.
