The LSESU Personal Finance Society is LSE’s first and only society aimed at building financial literacy from the ground-up.
At LSE Personal Finance Society, we are dedicated to building financial literacy from the ground up. Our mission is to bridge the knowledge gap for students who may understand how finance relates to their careers but seek a deeper understanding of how it can work for their personal lives. Unlike many career-oriented finance societies, we welcome students from all backgrounds—regardless of prior financial knowledge—to explore the foundational concepts of personal finance.
We aim to create a supportive space where members can engage in open discussions and learning opportunities around key topics like saving, budgeting, investing, and managing credit. Our goal is not to offer direct investment advice, but to equip our members with the tools, theories, and skills necessary to make informed decisions about their financial futures.
Through seminars, workshops, speaker events, book-clubs, socials and interactive sessions, we focus on both hard and soft financial skills. From learning how to open a bank account or set up an investment portfolio, to understanding the emotional and mental health aspects of financial loss, we provide a comprehensive approach to personal finance education. Before we embark on our career journeys, it is vital to understand how to begin saving responsibly.
Whether you are a complete beginner or simply looking to enhance your financial knowledge, the LSE Personal Finance Society offers a welcoming community for you to learn and grow, helping you take control of your financial well-being.
Feel free to follow us on our Instagram @lsesu.personalfinance - any questions are welcome!
We are excited to meet you this year and build our financial knowledge together :)
