LSESU Welcome Week Freshers Fair 2023

Toto Circle

Theatre that disrupts the silence of injustices, invoking your mind to be free from oppressive systems, and stories that give you agency to bring change - Welcome to the Theatre of the Oppressed

"The most effective way to enslave people is to give them a false idea of freedom."

If the world is a theatre, then it has turned into theatre of the oppressors. We are helpless characters, merely performers who follow the script of social injustices under the direction of powerful people in society. Theatre of the Oppressed calls you to turn the tide.

We invite you to join our community where we will reflect on ourselves and social systems, unlearn the education of oppressors. In the process, we become more free, thoughtful and ally to changemakers. (It is not easy & boring as it sounds)

Together, we will practice becoming active performers of social justice, through critical reflections, dialogue, and social communication.

We will trail in expression techniques through theatrical exercises and games.

No acting experience is expected – just a passion for justice, dialogue, and change! What matters is your desire to make a difference, to listen, to speak, and to create.
