LSESU Welcome Week Freshers Fair 2023

Criminal Justice

From White Collar Crime to the Prison-Industrial Complex, the Criminal Justice Society examines all things criminal law through an interdisciplinary approach.

This society is currently dormant. If you would like to restart the society, please see the process on this page.

We are the only society of its kind at the LSE, meeting student demand for a society focusing solely on the criminal justice system. Our aim is to provide a platform which allows students to explore career avenues in the criminal law, as well as engage in meaningful academic discourse regarding pertinent social issues today.

Our goal is to examine the criminal justice system and its intersection with other institutions and social systems — for example, why do we view financial crimes differently than we view crimes like theft and assault? To do so, we plan to hold panel discussions, debates, and forums to encourage critical engagement with these issues.

We hope to go beyond facilitating conceptual analyses, emboldening and supporting students who want to take part in shaping a better criminal justice system. As such, we will hold career and networking events with our partnered firms and chambers to showcase the various career paths in criminal law.
