LSESU Welcome Week Freshers Fair 2023

Humanist Open Minds

A community dedicated to humanism and free thought, and the appreciation of human potential and reason.

The LSESU Humanist Open Minds Society fosters a culture of intellectual curiosity and exploration. Using reason, empathy and open-mindedness, we try to move away from the concept of accepting religious dogma, to the appreciation of what human beings, as a remarkable species, collectively bring into this world - from knowledge and wisdom, to creativity and imagination.

As a Humanist Open Minds member, you will have the opportunity to engage in lively discussions and debates about a wide range of topics, from The Fundamentals of Humanism, to The Coexistence of Religion & Science.

We value the importance of individuals being able to practice any religion (or none at all) without fear of discrimination. At the same time we encourage the persistent pursuit of knowledge and curiosity to lead the way.

Our society is welcoming and supportive of everyone regardless of one’s backgrounds and beliefs. Whether you are a seasoned humanist, or believe in an external deity, or are unsure and appreciative of diverse ideas, Humanist Open Minds welcomes everyone. We believe that by working together, we can create a better world for all!
