About us

Within the highly political environment of the LSE, the LSESU Conservative Society is the home for those who adhere to, champion, and defend conservatism. We host frequent events, from debates to guest speakers and, most importantly, pub crawls! Through these events, students have a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow right-of-centre students in a lively social setting, as well as many prominent Conservative MPs, Academics and Pundits.

From those who are new to conservative thinking, to those who are dyed-in-the-wool Tories, all are welcome to join!

Membership

We have a one-fit membership plan. Once you've purchased your membership, you'll be able to come to our events. Membership fees are vital to fund our events, and we couldn't host them without our great members contributing! Extra events, such as dinners etc, do require an additional fee.

Members are the core of our society, and by joining, you'll be joining a vibrant community, focused on robust debate and enjoyable socials.

Events and Activities

We host several types of events, typically:

  • 'Port and Policy' – where members debate a wide variety of contemporary political issues.
  • Black tie events – such as dinners with special guests, as well as special black tie 'Port and Policy!'
  • Speaker events – from MPs to journalists, we have hosted a number of prominent speakers. Past examples include Fleur Butler MP, Johnny Mercer MP and many more. As Conservatism is challenged throughout the UK, these speaker events are great opportunities to hear from those promoting Conservatism and advancing Conservative thought.
  • Pub socials
  • Political Debates, typically against the LSESU Labour Society.

Our events are often in collaboration with other prominent Conservative Societies and Associations across London, meaning LSE students will be able to meet and debate fellow Conservatives from all around our great city! However, other events shall be exclusive to LSE Students, meaning members can choose to attend large or smaller-scale events, or both!
