Vera Povaiah

For Women's choice, Vera's your voice!

Hi, I’m Vera, a BSc Psychological and Behavioural Science student, and I love women. I was born on Women’s Day, and supporting women is what I do best. Of course, I'm running for Women’s Officer. Here's what I'm for:

  1. Tackling Period Poverty:

    1. Ensuring free menstrual products are available in all toilets across campus.

    2. Expanding on the 2019 referendum that introduced menstrual products in the SU building.

    3. LSE’s partnership with Here We Flo is great for halls, but we need campus-wide access, regardless of gender. Period.
  2. Improving campus safety:

    1. Supporting HandsOff Initiatives and expanding current consent-education programmes.

    2. Fighting for anti-spiking covers across all student events.

    3. Advocating for hassle-free reporting and better support systems for survivors.
  3. Women in the workforce and entrepreneurship:

    1. Creating mentorship programmes for women.

    2. Organising women-led networking events and career panels by women for women in male-dominated industries.

  4. Women's wellbeing

    1. Raising awareness for PMDD, PCOS, and Endometriosis and other women's health issues

    2. Raising awareness about women's mental health and improving access to resources.

    3. Advocating for LSE to better support women's health needs and services.
  5. Supporting Women supporting Women!

    1. Fundraising for women's charities.

    2. Endorsing grassroots feminist initiatives.

For women's choice, Vera's your voice!
