Now that it’s summer term, you may be checking your budget after a year of living in London and trying to find new ways to save money, while still wanting to have fun - luckily, as a student, you still have access to many different deals! Keep reading to find out some of the offers you may be able to receive.
Student Discount Schemes - Unidays & Totum
If you haven’t signed up yet, check out the discount apps Unidays and Totum for a range of offers on clothing, restaurant, and other retail. These schemes regularly send out new offers for a wide range of stores. After you register, you can browse all the discounts and see what might interest you.
Under-25 Culture Tickets
If you’re 25 or under, you have access to discounts at many of London’s best cultural institutions. The Barbican, Young Vic, Tate and the BFI are just some of the many spots that offer programs for under-25s. These can include significantly cheaper tickets to performances, exhibits and special screenings.
Museums
Remember, most general collections at art galleries and museums in London are free to visit! The British Museum, the Victoria & Albert, the Tate and The National Gallery are all free - you only need to pay a ticket price if you’d like to attend a special exhibition. If you want a short break during exams, I highly recommend taking advantage to go see some art!
Travel - National Rail and Coach
As a full time student, you’re also eligible for a £30 railcard which will let you enjoy ? off rail tickets across the UK. This is a great deal if you plan to travel by train a few times during the year.
Similarly, the Young Persons Coachcard gives you 1/3 off all fares, £15 day return anywhere in the UK (Tues, Weds and Thurs) and 15% off travel to events and festivals. The card itself costs only £12.50 for one year.
Make Sure to Check for a Discount
There are many retail stores that offer student deals but don’t necessarily advertise them, so it can be worth asking at check out or online. You will likely have to show a student ID to prove your eligibility. Similarly, many movie theatres across the city offer student concession prices, so make sure to check before purchasing a ticket.
