what can you do?
long term ceas
If your issue is ongoing and likely to affect you for the duration of your programme, you can apply for Long Term CEAs which will remain in place for all of your exams. You will need to contact the Disability and Mental Health Service (previously the Disability and Wellbeing Service, or DWS) and go over the application with them. This will often be done at the same time as your Teaching and Learning Adjustments (TLAs). It would be a good idea to bring along documentation of your condition to this meeting.
In order for long term CEAs to be put in place, your application must be completed by the following dates:
For January 2024 exam period: Friday 10 November 2023
For Spring 2024 exam period: Thursday 28 March 2024
For the In-Year Resit and Deferral 2024 exam period: Monday 22 July 2024
short term ceas
If you experience a short term or unexpected medical condition which you feel will affect your exams (not your revision, purely the exam itself), you can apply for short term CEAs. You should submit this application as soon as you are aware of your condition.
Adjustments can only be put in place for exams seven calendar days or later after your application is received. You can use the table of deadlines to establish the latest point by which you can apply.
You can fill out and submit the online form for short-term CEAs here or by clicking on the red Apply for short-term CEAs button here. You will also need to submit relevant supporting evidence.
If, having received the outcome email from the CEA Panel, you believe your CEAs are not appropriate then you have the right to appeal.
If you are unhappy with the Central Exam Adjustment Panel’s decision regarding your CEAs, you can appeal against the decision by filling out this form and submitting it, along with supporting evidence, via the SSC Enquiry Form. If you wish to appeal, you must do so within ten working days of receiving your outcome email from the CEA Panel which contains your agreed CEAs.
For more information, see the LSE webpage on CEAs.
