It is vital that all accidents and near misses are reported to LSESU.
An incident report is a formal recording of the facts related to an accident, injury, or near miss during your student group activities. Its primary purpose is to uncover the circumstances and conditions that led to the event in order to prevent future incidents.
In all accidents, injuries or near miss cases, you must complete the Incident/Accident Report Form below no later than 24 hours after the incident.

Risk assessments
Risk Assessments aim to identify all of the possible hazards within an activity and to subsequently protect participants from these hazards through implementing control measures. They are there to protect YOU and your members!
Please complete a risk assessment for each activity or event you organise, and attach one to your Event Proposal Form.

under 18S GUIDANCE
LSESU has a duty of care to all students. The Children’s Act 1989 defines a child as “a person under the age of 18” therefore extra consideration and actions need to be taken when working with these students.
It is crucial for clubs and societies to create a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment.

Under 18s wanting to take part in activity
You will not be able to buy membership via the website- this is because some additional measures need to be put in place before you can join your club or society. Email su.sport@lse.ac.uk (Sports Clubs) or su.societies@lse.ac.uk (Societies) for more information and to get started in your club or society activity!
We want all students to be able to access club and society activities and will support under 18s to do this. However, there are a few restrictions in place to keep you safe.
Under 18s cannot:
- Attend overnight trips.
- Take responsibility for running an event.
- Run in student elections.
- Attend social events centered around drinking alcohol.
- Take part in any activity outlined below.
- Join clubs and societies outlined below (This list is not exhaustive; there may also be certain events not accessible for under 18s. If you are unsure if your event is accessible to under 18s, please contact your relevant SU contact.)

Club/ Society Committee Responsibilities
- Ensure all people attending your activity have purchased a membership.
- Ensure that all Students’ Union, National Governing Body procedures are followed.
- With the support of the SU, update safety procedures and risk assessments - Implement additional measures based on government and NGB guidance.
- Organise a variety of inclusive activities e.g. not all alcohol based.
